Eleanor Duffin Exhibition – A Phantom Limb
Today as a class we went up to the Plymouth College of Art to visit an exhibition that was to be showcased. The artist was Eleanor Duffin and the exhibition was called A Phantom Limb.
When I walked in I thought it was very minimalist and aesthetically pleasing. It showcased her clay sculptures of limbs all over the floor just there, not cased in anything or showing off just placed randomly around the room. There were also a couple projections on the walls and a few paintings. Along with other stuff like small plants dotted around and at the entrance to your right a jacket hanging on a hook.
The materials used to create her art work were clay to create her sculptures of limbs and her techniques were obviously sculpting and some film work to create her clips of videos being projected on the walls.
I did enjoy the exhibition but I also found it plain and not as visually interesting as I was expecting. My favorite part of it was the projections that created and the vintage effect she had given them.
